I shot for the sky
I’m stuck on the ground
So why do I try, I know I’m gonna to fall down
I thought I could fly, so why did I drown?
Never know why it’s coming down, down, down.
“I need you to hear me say it just this once. I love you. Ever since you walked into my life you changed me, you made me whole again. And I know you - so how do you expect me to believe that you don’t feel what I feel?” He said, placing his hands against her cheeks to keep her looking at him.
“Obviously you don’t know me as well as you think you do. I’m not the one for you - never have been. You’re my friend Jeremy. I can’t love you the way you want me too.” Her voice was cold, hoping to disguise the lie she was making as she pulled his hands away from her cheek. Love never worked out - just look at her parents. And in the end everyone died so why bother? He deserved so much more than she felt that she could give him so she had to go before he wound up choosing her and making the biggest mistake of his life.
“You’re lying to me and you’re lying to yourself.” Not bothering to hide the hurt in his voice or in the look on his face. He knew that she loved him too.
“I don’t love you Jeremy. I’m so sorry.” The brunette turned on her heel, heading straight for the door, each step trying to weigh her down. It took every ounce of will not to go running back to him but her feet did what she was forcing them to do. Finding her way blindly to her car and driving, finally pulling over not far away from the house as the tears finally reached her eyes. There was no going back though.
He didn’t go after her and maybe that was a mistake on his part but he was frozen to the spot even as he heard her car start and pull out of the driveway. And it didn’t really hit him that she was truly gone until later that night, sitting at the bar, and having to explain away why she wasn’t right there beside him like she always was.
Not ready to let go
Cause then I’d never know
What I could be missing
But I’m missing way too much
So when do I give up what I’ve been wishing for.
Please take your time
but you’ve got to know that
I am taking sight.
Oh, you look good
with your patient face and wandering eye
dont hold this war inside.
It was towards the end of the day that he caught a glimpse of a girl, dark brown hair, hazel brown eyes, and a figure that could only belong to a girl he loved. But it couldn’t be her - she had left and he hadn’t heard from her since. Yet if she was gone then who was the girl who had been staring back at him? Somebody snapped his attention back to present, getting the gym ready for the dance tonight, and when he looked for her again in the crowd - she was nowhere to be seen. Not until the dance that was, he could have spotted her anywhere, even with the mask adorning her features. “You came back.”
“I did.” She said softly, eyes peering at his from the slits in her black mask. She never should have run.
“Why?” He asked, his tone harsher than he had intended it to be but she had hurt him.
“You were right. I lied. I was scared and I ran because I was afraid that you’d just wind up leaving me in the end or that we wouldn’t last. But you see the thing is - when you love somebody then that’s the risk you have to take because if I don’t try how will I ever know….? I love you Jeremy.” Being away from him had been some of the hardest days of her life. When she needed somebody to talk too, a shoulder to cry on, or anything he wasn’t there. And it made life miserable. The truth was she couldn’t be without him.
“You love me huh?” Hearing her finally say those three little words bringing a smirk to his face.
“Maybe just a little.” She laughed, unsure of where this would take him but knowing she was done trying to fight it.
“Good because I love you just a little too.” He teased, stepping closer to her as his hand cupped her chin before pressing his lips passionately against hers. And when the kiss finally broke, he pulled her to him in a hug, holding her tightly as if she’d disappear if he let go.
And she knew that she could never leave him again, because here with him is where she belonged - where she was home.
Come back when you can.
Let go, you’ll understand.
You’ve done nothing at all to make me love you less.
So come back when you can.
Come back, I’ll help you stand.
Let go and hold my hand.
If all you wanted was me, I’d give you nothing less.
So come back when you can.
-Why didn’t you tell me you two broke up?
I wasn’t sure you cared.
-We’re back to that? Of course I care. I never stopped.
The only sounds that filled the room was the noise of the television as a movie played across the screen. It was late and neither could seem to sleep - so they wound up sitting in his bed side by side.
As good as the movie might have been, it was hard to focus entirely on it when in the presence of the other. Jeremy found himself paying more attention to her than the movie, admiring everything from the dark brown hair to the hazel eyes, those supple lips, and a slender body. No matter how hard he tried, he could never keep his eyes off of her for long.
She could feel his eyes on her, smiling softly to herself though it could have been easily construed as her smiling at the part in the movie. Yet she turned her attention away from the movie and looked over at him, that smile still hanging on her lips. Neither spoke a word, just looked at one another as the movie droned out in the background. Under his gaze she felt her desire for him only grow stronger but she wouldn’t dare bring herself to make the first move.
Seconds later, Jeremy cupped her face as he leaned into kiss her, gentle at first before turning into something more passionate. He honestly felt at a loss of control every time he was around her and could you really blame him? He wanted her, and he wanted her bad. As the kisses became more feverish, both their hands worked quickly to rid one another of the clothing that lay between them. And as the last piece of clothing was removed, his body melted into hers, giving into the temptation that neither had the will or desire to resist.
